They are organically grown and sustainably harvested from a private woodland in Sequim, Washington. *** They will ship with some soil around their roots, which will be wrapped in plastic. *** Since I don’t use pesticides, leaves may have imperfections, such as holes, which doesn’t take away from the health of the seedlings. *** Some leaf damage or loss is expected due to the stress of shipping. On rare occasions, shipping can be extra stressful, such as very hot weather or a long USPS delay. This may cause full leaf loss or mushy leaves. Generally, this doesn’t mean the maples are dead. As long as their stems are alive, they will re-grow their leaves. In fact, losing their leaves usually makes them grow back fuller. ABOUT The Bigleaf maple (aka Broadleaf maple, Oregon maple) is a beautiful western US native tree with large green leaves. In the fall, before the tree sheds its leaves for the winter, the colors of the leaves change from green to gorgeous yellows, oranges, and occasionally reds. These beautiful trees are hardy to USDA zones 5-9, and they grow best in full sun to partial shade. They would make excellent additions to your rare plant collection, or just make a unique statement in your yard.
