Healthy adult plants will keep most bugs including mosquitoes at bay. One plant will protect about one square meter of ground. Ideal companion plants as plants grown next to them will usually be devoid of bug damage. This plant is just one method I use for control in the summer against our notorious mosquitoes. Plants will get six or seven feet tall and produce dramatic foliage in the garden. Plants are annuals and easily grown from seed started indoors or direct sown. The plants themselves are toxic and should not be eaten or grown around live stock. Oddly enough my compost worms love them so I guess once they break down the toxin dissolves fairly quickly.
