10,000+ Sweet Annie Artemisia annua Herb Seeds Fresh 2022 Crop Sagewort Wormwood

Description: This listing is for 10,000+ (closer to 20,000, I give lots of extra) seeds of Artemisia annua, a relative of Wormwood, commonly known as Sweet Annie. The seeds represent a mix of genetics wild-crafted from many different wild untreated organic plants which will ensure a robust planting in a wide range of environments. The seeds are very fresh and were collected in Illinois during Autumn of 2022. They are packaged in a labeled zipper bag and then sealed in a plastic pouch to maintain freshness and viability, as shown in the pictures. The nearly microscopic seeds are shaped like sesame seeds with the color of sunflower seed kernels. I have perfected a process for cleaning the seed of dry plant/flower matter and other contaminants and have included a picture in the gallery showing a comparison of the essentially pure clean seeds with seedless material below that some people mistake for and then sell as seeds. The error is understandable given the tiny size of the seeds, but you can be confident that you'll get at least twice the advertised number of top quality viable Sweet Annie seeds from my listings. Sweet Annie is extremely easy to grow once the seedlings get established, is tolerant of marginal soils, and will self-sow and invade surrounding areas quickly if not monitored. Sweet Annie prefers full sun or at least partial sun, and I recommend sowing outdoors in cleared but not deeply cultivated or fluffy soil. The seeds mustn't be buried, so should be surface sown and misted or the soil watered with a percolator to avoid burying or washing away the seed. The tiny sprouts will be delicate and prone to getting baked by the sun, so while small the soil should be kept moist. Once they are a few inches tall they should be much more hardy, and barring sustained drought will soon take care of themselves. I've noticed that sometimes seeds will remain dormant in the Spring and germinate later in the year, at which point they adopt a different low-lying growth pattern in preparation for over-wintering. The subsequent Spring they shoot up quickly and can grow into monstrous 8-12+ foot tall bushes. The aroma of both the fresh plant as well as dried and aged herb is lovely making Sweet Annie a favorite component of potpourris, sachets, and primitive air-fresheners, valued for its insect-repellent properties in addition to its scent. The plant is cultivated in Asia and Africa because it contains a highly effective antimalarial compound called Artemisinin and is also consumed in a tea for the treatment of fevers.
