1/35 Panzer III w/Railcar Cyber Hobby/Dragon Super Value #9118 Shrink Wrap MISB

Description: I want to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! This is the eighteenth kit in the long line of Orange Super Value Packs from Cyber Hobby (Dragon) that has become very hard to find. The lengthy title of this kit is Schwerer Plattformwagen Typ SSy + Pz.Bef.Wg.III Ausf.K. It means you get a railway platform car that was used to carry heavy loads, including tanks and artillery, long distances. You also get a Panzerbefehlswagen III, which is a Command Tank version of the ubiquitous Panzer III. This Super Value Pack kit is a repackaging of the very successful Dragon Pz.Bef.Wg.III Ausf.K kit (DML #9018) with Added Value Magic Tracks and the tremendously useful Dragon Schwerer Plattformwagen Typ SSy kit (DML #6069). I only found two listings for this kit on eBay (getting hard-to-find), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this very quickly. Here is some of the info I found from around the web about this rare kit: The cyber-hobby.com site no longer has a page for this kit, so I assume it has been Discontinued or is Out of Production. From other sources, I have found the following information about this kit: While tanks and other armored vehicles typically get all the glory, mechanized units would rapidly shudder to a halt without the necessary supplies. Similarly, it’s important to have a way of shifting heavy vehicles from one front to another. That’s why railways are so important, and they were certainly critical to the German military in WWII. Indeed, the Deutsche Reichsbahn was instrumental in keeping Germany in the war. Things got even more difficult on the Russian front because the latter used a different railway gauge, and Reichsbahn workers had to convert more than 16,000km of Soviet track to the German gauge between June and October 1941 alone. - Two complete kits are included: DML #9018 and DML #6069- Value Added Magic Tracks with details on both sides Scalemates.com shows that this is a 200x release (the box has a 2010 date) that is a reboxing, with a few new parts, of the original Dragon Pz.Bef.Wg.III Ausf.K kit (DML #9018) from 1996 that was based on the 1987 Gunze Sangyo tooling. That tooling has been the basis of a whopping 29 releases across the Gunze Sangyo, Dragon, DML, Cyber Hobby, Revell, Zvezda and Platz brands! They don’t mention the Plattformwagen at all, probably due to a limitation in their database structure. FYI: It is DML #6069, which is a new tooling from 1997. They have the box art and a link to download the complete, full-color 12-page instruction set and painting guide. There are also links to reviews, aftermarket parts and resources for Panzer III tanks that could be useful. Thomas Hofmann delivered a short In-Box Review for the Plattformwagen (DML #6069) on the German-language modellversium.de site. He shares eight photos of the sprues, and decals, along with a listing of the contents. He closes the review with a discussion of the railcars and his final words were: “Even though I don't have a report on the accuracy of fit, I would like to recommend the kit to both the established modeler and the beginner.” Tom Moon published a nice Build Review on the reviews.ipmsusa.org site that covered just the Railway Car. He provides an inventory of parts and describes each step of the construction. He provides some great tips to make the build go easier and gives us some photos of his finished model. He finishes with comments on the Painting and Decals before starting his Conclusion with: “This is a very good model. The molding is well done. No flash and other than the road wheels, very faint mold lines.” Tom Moon also posted a companion Build Review for the Panzerbefehlswagen III on the reviews.ipmsusa.org site. Following the pattern of his first review, he provides an inventory of parts and describes each step of the construction. As he goes, he provides some great tips to make the build go easier. He backs this up with eight photos of his finished model, another eight for the parts and nine for the instructions and painting guide. He enjoyed the project and offers some ideas in his Conclusion: “If you want, you can combine this kit with others and make a complete train of loaded cars headed for the front. What a diorama possibility!” This kit is in a large, sturdy box about 15” x 9.5” x 3”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is in terrific shape and still snugly sealed with the original shrink wrap, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains two complete injection molded plastic model kits: 1) a Heavy Railway Flatcar (DML #6069) with over 200 grey plastic parts, a sheet of Cartograf decals and a section of railway track bed and also 2) a Panzer III Command Tank (DML #9018) to ride on it with over 400 grey plastic parts, a length of stainless-steel wire for the antenna, Magic Track links (108 left and 108 right) and a sheet of Cartograf decals. I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
