Description: Merrimack Canoe was founded in New England, sold to a family of canoe makers in Tennessee, then to family in Minnesota. “Merrimack canoes are built one at a time, each one made by hand using simple tools, and they are individually numbered and signed by the craftsmen whose time, attention, and dedication led to the creation of a canoe both stunning and practical, intended to see use over many generations. Unmistakable appointments from the handmade seats to gunwales, deck plates, and handles utilize premium woods like Cherry, Ash, and Walnut to offer a stunning natural palette that perfectly complements the decades-refined hull designs. “ ‘Though beautiful, our canoes are made to be used. Whether you’re looking to spend a misty morning on the lake chasing bass, taking on a multi-week expedition in the wilderness, or just taking the kids out for a little paddle around the pond, we want to see our canoes helping you better enjoy your time outdoors and on the water for many years to come. “ This canoe was purchased by me in 1980 from Fernald’s in Newburyport, MA. It has seen many a weekend and day trip. At about 50 lb she is easy to portage. With two seats, 37” beam and 27” high bow, she’s ideal for both river and lake cruising. The deep keel keeps her tracking well and rides through the water fast, even loaded with a weekends worth of camping gear. The cherry ribs, mahogany gunwales and ash thwarts and seats make her the envy of other canoeists. New this will run you into the mid $3000 plus shipping. The hull is in great condition, never been punctured. The keel has been scraped a few times and repaired. The interior cherry ribs, which aren’t structural could use some love. Some of the previous interior fiberglass repairs have discolored. The seats are in great shape, as are the thwarts. Pickup only in Sweden, Maine near Fryeburg. If you’re coming to the Fair we can hold it for you until then with full payment. We also have two Merrimack ash seat backs in brand new condition we will add for free!
