Description: 1739 ADMIRAL VERNON Capture of Porto Bello AE MEDAL - Collectors RARE 26.5mm type! This 1739 bronze or pinchbeck medal is unsigned and features on the obverse the half-length figure of Admiral Vernon three-quarters left, with baton. His right hand is pointing with one finger at the letters "BR". The reverse shows a view of the harbour with six ships. A tower and two steeples point to the first letter "L", to the right of "O" and at "WI". This is the rare smaller 26.5mm medal type. Reference: McCormick-Goodhart #67, unlisted in Betts but similar to Betts #207.
