Description: 1792 Issue 1st Year of The Republic Assignat 10 Sous France Banknote Pick Number A64a Domaines Nationaux Issue Beautiful Uncirculated Note For your World Currency Collection-PCU1737 Details Description: A beautiful uncirculated banknote from France. This is the October 24, 1792 Assignat de dix sous or ten sous banknote. The banknote is off-white in color with black printing. It depicts, on the front's bottom center, two women along a pyramid shape framing the number 10 representing the numerical denomination. Both women are reaching to a pole with a liberty cap at its end with one of the women having a wreath in the other hand and the other woman having a branch in her other hand. The note is series 569 and has no serial number noted but has a signature right of center of the front. The note has two raised seal marks on the front left and right of center near the bottom. The back of the note is blank. The paper of the note is stiff and the note has a watermark "10S" and "XS" flanking a circle with the word "LA NATION" in its center. The top right-hand corner of the front of the note says L'AN 1er DE LA REPUBLIQUE or first year of the republic. Pick Number: P# A64a Condition: I would grade this banknote as a beautiful uncirculated or better with all the details being very well preserved. The note does not have folds or wrinkling and shows beautiful embossing. The note has no detectable soiling, no staining, no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. The edges show no roughness and are intact. The note was badly trimmed as usual and but its corners are intact. A beautiful note in excellent condition and a great piece given it is over two hundred years old. This is a beautiful note which would make a great addition to your collection of French banknotes.
