John Farey Jr. (20 March 1791 – 17 July 1851) was an English mechanical engineering, consulting engineer and patent agent, known for his pioneering contributions in the field mechanical engineering. Wilson Lowry FRS (24 January 1762 – 23 June 1824) was an English engraver. Lowry specialised in making engraving of architectural and mechanical topics, and excelled in perspective views of machinery. Lowry's most famous work in this field was undoubtedly the work he did for Rees's Cyclopædia between 1802 and 1819. PROVENANCE: Published in "The Cyclopaedia; or, Universal Dictionary of Arts, Sciences and Literature". Published by by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, & Brown in London. The 19th-century encyclopedic work was published in serialized form from 1802 to 1820 consisting in total of 39 volumes of text, 5 volumes of plates and an atlas.
