The Friend was an American Quaker magazine first published in 1827; it was the earliest Quaker publication in the country. Although its main focus was the publication of articles from and relating to the Quaker community, it also included standard English literary material, news of prominent deaths, controversial writings and various notices. Articles focused on travel observations, religious life, sermons, individual biographies and poetry. The aim of the publication was to “make a fireside companion for Friends throughout the Country”.The Supreme Court of Ohio was founded in 1802, established in the state constitution as a three-member court, holding courts in each county every year. The constitution was approved that year, one year before statehood. In 1823, the state legislature ordered the court to meet annually in Columbus. It was located in the Ohio Statehouse beginning in 1857, and moved into the Statehouse Annex in 1901. Very Good Condition. This listing includes the complete entire original newspaper.
