Description:The SS Republic was a Civil War-era side-wheel steamship operating between New York and New Orleans when it was lost in a hurricane on October 25, 1865. The ship contained a fortune in gold and silver coins meant to assist in the rebuilding of New Orleans after the Civil War. Discovered in 2003 off the Georgia/South Carolina coast. Authenticated and Graded by NGC as being uncirculated (UNC). This half dollar is the only silver coin to have been minted by three separate entities. One was the Union, one being the state of Louisiana, and the third being the Confederate states. This particular coin was minted by the state of Louisiana. This coin in grade MS 60 sells for $2,200. This is an uncirculated coin which means that it's at least an MS 60 half dollar. Plus this particular coin is a SHIPWRECK EFFECT half dollar and was in the ocean for over 140 years.
