Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1866 Indian Cent, Snow-13, Misplaced Date (MPD). Certified PCGS AU-58, attribution not on the label as I believe not recognized by either PCGS or NGC. Individual images of the coin taken prior to certification. Clear evidence of digits of the date punched into the denticles, the slightly later die state with a cud at 8:30-9:00. The Reverse die was a bit older, showing some die cracks and evidence of a clash. An original Brown coin that I am not convinced is not actually Uncirculated - no apparent "wear" just minor contact on Liberty's back hair curl and the highest part of the ribbon which produced an area of lighter color. Very minor signs of verdigris within the wreath on the Reverse. Both of these are typically a sign of some storage in a mixed lot of period coinage. Likely PCGS chose to call it "only" AU-58 as these signs are interpreted as the coin saw at least some minor handling in commerce prior to being sequestered. Otherwise extraordinarily clean with no obvious marks, plenty of obvious soft luster on medium brown surfaces, and some small traces of original planchet color visible on the Reverse. Certainly outside this certification a "Choice Uncirculated" coin in the hands of most dealers. I had in fact offered this previously as an MS-62BN; if you know anything about grading Indian Cents, that "number" and the assigned grade are commercially equivalent. Within the Condition Census shown in Snow 3rd Ed; certainly a strong CAC candidate based upon my experience. As values on varieties is a matter of opinion (Snow suggests a possible 2x premium), priced based upon my estimate of an equitable value, with a Make an Offer option added. Due to value this will require Insured shipping with Signature Confirmation, hence the S&H shown. Please Note: We require payment within four days of purchase, unless you contact us for other arrangements in advance of purchase. Items not paid for within 4 days will have an automatic unpaid item case opened - please do not make a purchase unless you intend to honor your commitment. If you have any questions, please email. Please note our hours below and if needed contact us at least 24 hours before close of listing. Buy or Bid with confidence: we have a heritage to 1937, and loads of good eBay Feedback, where I have been selling since 1997. Good Luck & Good Hunting! Tipsico Coin, Mon.- Fri. 10 AM - 4 PM MST.
