Description: 1896 Antique Certificate of Naturalization Whoa! My grandfather had "to renounce and adjure all allegiance to the Emperor of Germany"! Honestly, I didn't even know that Germany had an Emperor in the 1800's. Those were the days when a person's word actually meant something, and they kept it! William Conrad emigrated from Germany when he was 17 years old and settled in Chicago. Back then, Chicago had a large German speaking population. My aunts and uncles all had high school diplomas in GERMAN from Chicago schools. Up for sale is his original 1896 Antique Certificate of Naturalization. This is the original document from the Cook County Clerk with original embossed seal. There are some tears along the folded lines, but I have documented those in the attached photos. I welcome any and all questions. Free Shipping!
