Description: 1904 Pennsylvania Leather License Plate 2 Digit 13th Made Antique. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class. Made w/ leather & tin; this was once displayed in a museum; measure 8” ; 13th made in either the county that year; truly a rare find. Do have provenance on it. While the county treasurer issued driver licenses for the fee of $300, the registration number (and the registration of the vehicle itself, of course), was issued by the county prothonotary for a fee of $2.00. The registration was recorded in a book called the Register of Automobiles or Motor Vehicles. The registrations were done in sequence starting in April, 1903 with #1 and continued through 1905. Starting in 1906 the commonwealth issued two porcelain tags to motorists which actually didn't register the vehicle but were licenses to operate the vehicle. With the state taking over this function, no more county registrations were taken. Refer to pictures and feel free to ask any questions JB We are antique emporium in beaver falls!
