Description: United States Shipping Board: An oval china side dish featuring the U.S.S.B. shield logo. The pattern of a black shield and dark red striping is called "Centennial State". The dish measures 4.5" by 6" long. It is stamped on bottom with Shenango China and a manufacturing date of the early 1920s. The U.S. Shipping Board owned most of the American fleet in the 1920s and leased the ships to various lines such as United States Lines, Munson, Pacific Mail, Admiral Line, and the Los Angeles Steamship Company. This pattern of china was used throughout the fleet including on the LEVIATHAN. Very good condition.
