Other: Uncommon, vintage pictorial view of the University of Nebraska campus by photographer and naturalist Frank H. Shoemaker. It appears to be the corner of the old Soldiers Memorial Hall looking toward University Hall on a moody, foggy day. Frank Henry Shoemaker (1875-1948) was associated with the University of Nebraska serving as photographer and field note taker on many expeditions to the Sandhills of western Nebraska. His notebooks and many of his photographs of birds and the natural landscape reside in the archives of the University of Nebraska. Although the majority of Shoemakers’s photographs center on Nebraska themes, he also made images in California of the aftermath of the San Francisco earthquake as well as excursions into the Southwest as well.
