Detroit Goalie Normie Smith was spectacular in the Semi-Final playoff game against the Montreal Maroons on March 24, 1936, as he shut out Montreal 1-0 in the longest playoff game in NHL history, lasting six overtimes and a game time of 176 minutes and 30 seconds. Mud Bruneteau scored the winning goal for the Red Wings.
