Description: This exquisite vintage fabric doll representing a Blackfoot Chief comes to Pathway from the collection of a well traveled lady. According to her records this unique doll was a gift from her mother who purchased it at the Blackfoot Craft Shop in Browning Montana in 1947. The doll stands 9” tall and is adorned with traditional Blackfoot Chief regalia including a headdress, buckskin fringed tunic, breechcloth with leggings and moccasins. He holds a feather bundle in his hand. Both clothing and headdress are intricately beaded. His face is a piece of buckskin with beaded features and stitched eyebrows. The attention to detail is remarkable. What sets this doll apart is the use of real human hair styled in a traditional manner, showcasing the artistry of doll makers from the era. Despite its age this doll is in very good vintage condition. It has been well preserved over the years with no major signs of wear or damage. The headdress has lost a few feathers and they have detached from the back of the lower headband. Please note, this doll is for display purposes only and not intended for play.
