1950s RCA Victor Nipper Dog Figural Salt & Pepper Shakers Radio Corp. of America

Description: RCA "NIPPER" SALT & PEPPER SHAKERS - 1950s Radio Corp. of America. Each 2.5" x 3.25" x 1.5". Painted egg white glazed ceramic. Attractive promotional salt & pepper shaker pair for RCA Victor, each featuring a nice figural image of the company's trademark mascot dog "Nipper". RCA VICTOR appears molded on the side of each & "Radio Corp. of America" is printed under base of both shakers. Original cork plug is included on both shakers. "Nipper" (the dog) was a mixed-breed dog and probably part Jack Russell Terrier, although some sources suggest that he was a Smooth Fox Terrier, or "part Bull Terrier". He was named Nipper because he would "nip" the backs of visitors' legs. This pair has excellent eye appeal. Condition is considered GOOD to FAIR with moderate surface/stain/edge wear. Very mild hairline glaze crazing throughout with no ceramic cracks or breaks. Overall, we feel these are very displayable examples by most standards (see photos).
