Adam with 300 year old Antique Clocks, from Scotland This is an original press photo. Clocks Seven Antique grandfather clocks, about 150 years old, have been purchased from a Scottish castle nearly 300 years old by Howard P. Adam, 1561 W. Windlake avenue, head of a clock company and collector of unusual timepieces. Adam, shown with one of his prizes above, plans to put them all in working order. They came from Buchanan castle in Perthshire county, Scotland, and were sold by heirs of the duke of Montrose. The heirs had to get rid of the castle's furnishings in order to pay the 92% inheritance tax, Adam was told. The clocks, some ornately carved, were admired by Miss Bernice Schwalbe, 2723 N. 34th street, secretary of Adam's firm.Photo measures 10 x 7.25inches. Photo is dated 10-03-1954.
