1959 or early '60 Fender Jazzmaster, pre-CBS, slab board, black bobbin beauty

Description: This is one fantastic, real deal, vintage Fender Jazzmaster. It is beautifully refinished in a lightly checked nitro white/blond that shows the grain of the fairly rare ash body. Finish was done by Riggio custom guitars. It's got the dark and hard Brazilian rosewood slab fingerboard on a superbly aged, original finish maple neck. The pickups are the black bobbin variety with a nice high output of 7.96 and 8.98. Weight is a comfortable 7lbs 10oz. and as is the case with the lightweight Jazzmasters, this one is very resonant. The hot pickups convey that with a rich warmth.This has the Pat. pending tremolo and original floating bridge which works remarkably well compared to the newer upgraded ones like Mastery and Staytrem. The often lost bridge cover is present. Lead circuit volume and tone potentiometers date to early 1959 (16th week) The neck is not dated which is common with the slab fingerboard production of 1959-'60. Neck plate serial number is late 1959 or early 1960. Waterslide decal appears to be reproduction.The distinct light shade swirled early tortoise shell pickguard is in great shape for its age with slight shrinking noticeable and two tiny cracks, one next to the neck pickup and the other near the rhythm circuit tone wheel.There are some wear spots in the fingerboard that do not affect playability. Frets have been replaced nicely with correct wire and finished excellently. Neck profile is a very slender C shape. It measures .765" deep at the 1st fret and .945" at the 12th. The guitar plays fabulous with my choice of strings (Curt Mangan 11-52)The blond case is in incredibly good shape for 60+ years old.
