Description: Here are two Nikon 35mm SLR cameras from the mid-1960s: a black Nikkormat FT and a chrome Nikomat FT. These are basically the same camera (Nikomat is the Japan home market designation for the Nikkormat series cameras sold in the US) except for their appearance. The FT is noteworthy as the first Nikon SLR camera with a built-in light meter (as distinct from the add-on meter finders for the Nikon F). It was produced between 1965 and 1967, and black versions of the camera are quite rare (judging by the serial numbers, only a few were manufactured toward the end of the production run). Both cameras are basically in good working order: the shutters fire crisply at all speeds 1-1/1000 second and B, and the depth-of-field preview, self-timer, mirror lock-up, and film advance all work properly. The only caveat is that the frame counter on the black FT does not advance when the film advance lever is stroked. The light meters are untested since they require discontinued 1.35V mercury batteries. The cameras show some cosmetic wear from normal use, but on the whole are in nice condition for their age of about 60 years. These are robust all-mechanical camera from the golden age of 35mm film SLR photography, still going strong after almost 60 years. Shipping will be $14.95 to US addresses.
