Description: Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Jazz Bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Boasting a very faithful (older) nitro lacquer refinish in Lake Placid Blue with subsequent natural aging, this Jazz Bass has an extremely soulful, worn-in feel, retaining 100% original electronics and hardware. Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, and at 9lbs 2oz, this bass is a medium weight example. Both black bobbin pickups retain their original winds, and this bass is highly responsive to player inputs. Clear, deep and extremely resonant, this Jazz Bass is strung with fresh 45-100 roundwound strings, accentuating midrange presence and treble grind. The low end is broad and rich, with a woody detail and punch from the neck pickup, while the bridge pickup has more upper midrange burp while retaining its own fundamental heft. The body contours are extremely faithfully retained, and it’s a very high quality older refinish that stands up to considerable scrutiny, with playwear that appears all honestly earned (no artificial aging). There are various marks down to the white primer coat, largely on the body perimeter, buckle rash on the back, and forearm wear on the edge of the top. The finish also has particularly broad spiderweb checking on the lower bout on top. On the neck, there is one added strap button screw snapped off flush with the neck just north of the neck plate, and the Brazilian rosewood fretboard is a very dynamic cut, more chocolate brown on the bass side with dark ebony stripes and a darker shade in general on the treble side. The neck profile exhibits some palm wear through the gloss on the shoulders, and the neck has a particularly smooth, inviting feel. A modern Fender/G&G Deluxe brown tolex hardshell case is included.
