Selim Hobart Peabody (August 20, 1829 - May 26, 1903) was an American educator who held professorships of mathematics, physics, and engineering at several colleges. From 1880 to 1891, he was president of the University of Illinois. He was chief of the department of liberal arts at the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893 as well as editor and statistician of the United States Commission to the Paris Exposition in 1900.
