Description: This listing is for a piece of live edge wood used as a sign for a piece of wood sculpture by New Jersey artist, John Schackerman in the 1970s. One side of the wood is varnished and painted with an English Arts and Crafts font that says "Untitled John Schackerman" in black paint. It measures 15 1/2" X 7 3/4". We found this at a rural flea market in Southern New Jersey. "A resident of New Jersey, Schackerman is an award-winning artist who has had solo exhibitions at the Pavilion Galleries, Mt. Holly; Camden County Cultural and Heritage Commission; Perkins Center for the Arts, Moorestown; Center for the Arts in Southern New Jersey; Camden County Library; Wayne Art Center; Drexel University and Thomas Jefferson University.His awards include the Edward G. Krause Memorial Award, Center for the Arts in Southern New Jersey, 1985; First Prize, Center for the Arts in Southern New Jersey, 1983; Purchase Award, Camden County Cultural and Heritage Commission, 1979, 1981 and 1982; Honorable Mention, Wayne Art Center, 1982; First Prize, Wayne Art Center, 1982 and First Prize, Willingboro Art Show, 1981.
