Description: 1971 Denver Mint Memorial Penny with severe die error. The obverse of the coin wasnt completely punched so the left hand side of Lincolns profile is missing. That area is also raised. The reverse of the penny is smooth on the left hand side of the coin the UNITE is missing as is the bottom portion of the memorial and the word ONE is also missing the bottom detailing of the memorial is extreme crosshatching where the stairs should be. There is a tilt to OF and it sits cockeyed between STATES and AMERICA. A 1971 penny should weigh 3.1 grams this penny weighs 3.37 grams there is a significant weight difference. Its a unique coin Ive never seen anything like it in my 30 years of collecting coins.
