Description: A rare to market piece by Gary Spradling (American, 1951-2006), Circa 1982. This, 1 of 2 pieces we have in the store, is a mixed media work constructed of metal, wood, horn, & fur, all coming together to created what he titled "Jose's Dog" Spradling was born in Springfield Missouri, but with a career that took place in Williamsburg Brooklyn, long before that neighborhood became known for Art. "In 1973 he received a BFA from Southwest Missouri State University, and in 1975 an MFA from the Rinehart School of Sculpture, The Maryland Institute, College of Art, Baltimore Maryland. In 1978 he arrived in Williamsburg, a pioneer resident artist." Gary was later diagnosed with ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease. "In the first four years after his diagnosis, Gary created 48 works of art and had written 167poems, which he hoped to publish in three or four volumes. Since that time, he has undoubtedly produced much more.
