Description: For sale is a Trek 970 frame and fork, pro-racing bike. The serial number is 008837, according to the Trek site, it is a Trek 950 frame, built in 1981. It is possible that the frame was paint and built as a 970 in 1983, as it was the same for the 950 and 970. They were made 52 frames in 1981 and 140 in 1983, in the size of 56 cm. The size is 56 cm, from center of crank to top of seat tube; 56 cm top tube (C-C). It is a Columbus double-butted Chrome Molybdenum frame, fork and stays, the catalog says it is a Columbus tubing in a tight criterium configuration. 1983 was the last year when Trek used Columbus tubing. The spacing is 100mm for front, 126mm for rear. I believe it takes 700C wheels. The frame and fork are in good condition for 40+ year old, some small scratches, no rust; no bents, dents, cracks, or other damages. The rear dropouts are Shimano UF. The right rear dropout is paint black. In a discussion on bikeforum, some members were thinking that that dropout was factory replaced, because of some failures of the dropouts. I do not know if it was replaced, I received the bike last year. But under the black paint I can see red paint. As I said, the frame and fork are straight. The Stronglight head set, shown in pictures is not part of the sale. See pictures for more details and ask for more details or pictures if needed. Atention!!! NO shipping to Hawai, Alaska or Puerto Rico, where the shipping is almost double.
