Description: 2006 Minnesota Vikings Strat-O-Matic Football. 18 cards. Mint condition. New Vikings head coach Brad Childress hired a 34 year old assistant coach by the name of Mike Tomlin to be his defensive coordinator. Tomlin had served as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defensive secondary coach. This would be Tomlin's lone year as an NFL defensive coordinator and it proved to be a stepping stone to a lengthy NFL head coaching career which thrives to this day in Pittsburgh without any losing seasons. Tomlin's defense was lead by the famed "Williams Wall" consisting of interior linemen Pat Williams and Kevin Williams, run stuffers extraordinaire. In fact, that 2006 Vikings defense ranks as one of the NFL' s all-time greatest against the run. In 2006, they ranked #1 in the entire league in at least three important categories: Fewest run attempts against: 348Fewest rushing yards against 985Fewest rushing yards per attempt 2.83 Fittingly, Kevin Williams and Pat Williams finished #1 and #2 respectively in regards to their Pro Football Reference 2006 Minnesota Vikings approximate value scores, Kevin leading the Vikes with an 18 score and Pat finishing second with an 11 score. Strat-O-Matic gave the Vikings run defense the rare "SUPREME" designation as you see by the card displayed and by the stingy yardage values that lie within that card. Veteran QB Brad Johnson game manages the offense with the aid of fine rusher Chester Taylor, who toted the rock 303 times for 1216 yards including his longest rush, a 95 yarder for touchdown at Seattle.
