Description: 16.00 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE The eggs will be from Earl's flock for frizzled and non-frizzled lavender, dark/light blue, black and splash silkies. Satins and Bantam Cochins will not be part of the selection. Earl and Blue Bell are from award winning parents. Their young will be blue silkies that will look identical to them. Also paired with Earl is a white hen from an award winning flock that consistently lays chicks with lavender coloring. The color is light and throughout the coat with 50 percent of the chicks frizzling. Sobe is a pure black hen that usually results in black chicks with Earl. She does not include the award winning pedigree. In sum-Earls's genotype is blue masking lavender, Blue Bell blue, Persephone white masking lavender, and Sobe black. These are important steps you must consider if you want to have a better hatch rate with your shipped eggs. 1 Never put shipped eggs directly into the incubator when you receive them. Eggs should sit pointy side down at room temperature for 24 hours. 2 Put a small container of water beside the carton to help to rehydrate the eggs because they lose humidity during the shipping process. 3 If you feel the need of washing your eggs, do not do so until you are ready to put them in the incubator. Use a warm damp cloth and some apple cider vinegar to clean. Do not use chemicals, soap, or soak the eggs. Do not use hot water. Dry with a clean towel immediately after before you put into the incubator. 4. Candle the eggs to see how the air pockets look and where they are. If they are good, you will see a very small air pocket at the top. When hatching eggs are shipped, they can have detached air cells and the yolks can be off center. Giving them humidity and time to settle. 5. Buy a Govee Thermometer/Hydrometer to monitor your incubator from your phone. I own multiple Govees to monitor my incubators and brooders. You will know before you arrive home if your incubator is lower on water. Good luck and happy hatching! SILKIES AVAILABLE This add is for Silkies only. The feathers will be silkied and can be frizzled (at-least 50% or more of the chicks). The colors include blue, splash, brown, white, and black. White will mask underlying colors, so you will only know the hidden color by mating the adults. The hens include birchen (type of brown), true blue (blue based gray), splash, black, white (black with white unmasked), and white (true blue with white unmasked). The true blue based white Silkie hen comes from an award winning flock in California. All hens are considered the "Silkie standard of perfection". The shy rooster is a rare frizzled true blue Silkie (a.k.a., Sizzle). Orders of two or more will result in extras. Please note that this flock includes silver based chickens for cooler softer tones. The reds, oranges, and black with green highlights will be from the other flocks with gold based chickens. The video includes chicks from my Satin Silkie red and frizzled Silkie blue roosters. Spice is part of Chicken Little's flock as a gold based hen. ROOSTERS I can assist you with your roosters' behavior. Almost all of my roosters will be easy to handle and train,, but some can through an ackward hormonal stage before mellowing out. I can work with you molding your rooster's behavior. What type of rooster do you want? Do you want quiet morning in the suburbs? Do you want them to swing on their chicken swing? The flock's survival depends on a crafty rooster in the wild, so you should expect the best for your flock. HEALTH My chickens and chicks eat top quality food and supplements. All bantams receive great care and repay with daily eggs of differing shapes and colors. The adult bantams are all parasite and disease free and see an avian vet for check-ups quarterly. The eggs will include a mixture of bantams that will weigh 2-3 lbs for hens and 3-4 lbs for roosters. These eggs are fresh, stored large side up, and unwashed to ensure maximum hatching. My home hatches have been 100% with my girls. These eggs have not been under a hen and will require 21 days to hatch. TEMPERAMENT Silkies are sweet, gentle, and very docile toward everyone and everything. They seem to enjoy attention, being cuddled, and carried. They will often sit on your foot begging to be picked up. These little lap chickens can be kept indoors in chicken diapers or outdoors to forage for bugs behind a baby gate. Both breeds are non-flyers and easily confined by a low 24" garden fence. SUCCESSFUL HATCHING (FOR NEWBIES) I am here to assist you the whole process from hatching eggs to raising chicks in a brooder. An incubator should be able to maintain humidity (50%), turn eggs, and the proper temperature (99.5-100.5 F gegrees). I use a GOVEE to monitor temperature and humidity from my phone, given that not all incubators are accurate, especially cheap ones. My incubator of choice is the Manna Pro Harris Farms Nurture Right for price and hatch rate (and really should be the standard for any incubator). Bantams usually hatch earlier than standards, so be sure to turn off the turner and increase humidity to 70% at 17 days. All chicks will remain in the incubator to dry for 12 to 24 hours (until fluffy) and then put in a brooder with a heat lamp on one end and food/water on the other end. Heat can be about 95 F degrees and decreased by 5 degrees every week. If the chicks are staying away from the heat lamp or panting, you can decrease it by another 5 degrees. Make sure that a thermometer is on the ground of the brooder to monitor the amount of heat as well. USPS Handling and Outside Factors Always candle your eggs and photograph any issues you see in the eggs within 24 hours after the eggs arrive. Damaged and older eggs can still hatch but require a change in how they are incubated. I am here to help you troubleshoot from the photos you send me. Only incubate eggs after the egg has reached room temperature (a quick change in temp may kill the embryo). Any hairline cracks must be immediately repaired with candle wax to keep out bacteria. As long as liquid is not seeping out, any egg can be salvaged to result in a healthy chick. I have successsfully hatched cracked and refrigerated eggs. I will ensure that the eggs are well packaged and firmly inplace for minimal movement.
