Description: This is a heavily raced ABA bike, not a clean collectors bike. Bikes are meant to be ridden, this one was ridden (Gasp! A bicycle that was ridden! Get your pitchfolks, Reddit trolls!) I started the build in 1992 while racing with an ABA team on a track called "The Hill" in Elgin IL every weekend for 5 years before going pro. The bike was heavily upgraded during that time until about 1998 when I stopped racing, as you see it here in these pics (minus the pads, tires, seat and pedals which were replaced for restoration purposes). Redline flight cranks were cracked and replaced with Mongoose cranks in 2007. All other parts minus the seat & tires are original. I began with a pair of holy grail Araya RB-17’s (which are in excellent condition) and built the bike up around them using only the best parts money could buy. It could stand for a good cleaning but under the dust it’s actually in incredible shape. I’m still riding and racing at 42 so no, it’s not pristine but it is special and holds a high vintage value. These are selling for 3-4k when pristine so I think 1400 is fair market for a ridden, restored bike. This bike was the pinnacle of “the best of the best” parts you could buy at the time. Original Vintage 90’s parts: - Vintage Araya RB-17’s rims (with original 90’s Dans Comp Sticker!) - Vintage “Elf Blast Bar” handle bars - Vintage Powerlight P51 frame (serial # 08922983) - Vintage Redline 42T front sprocket for downhill racing - Vintage DK headset with DK cover - Vintage VG headset lock - Vintage UNI seatpost - Vintage Boss seatpost clamp - Vintage Crupi hubs - aluminum Odessy Pedals - Vintage Suncoast rear sprocket - Mongoose 3-piece cranks - Vintage Pitbull center pull rear cantilever brakes - Vintage Pitbull front right lever - Vintage VG Dropput savers - Modern ODI grips - 2023 new tubes and tires. Tires are retro GT Megabyte style. - Throwing in a set of vintage ELF pads as shown (that's what I used while I was racing, the Powerlight pads are new) - Seat was originally a tiny 4" plastic UNI racing seat you couldn’t even sit on (used only to pass track requirements) so I’ve added a comfortable modern seat for everyday riding for my teenage kid. I can ship without it if you prefer to put a proper seat on it. LOCAL NYC pickup available. SHIPPING DETAILS: Must have basic knowledge of BMX bike assembly as I plan on taking the wheels and handlebars off the frame for shipping. Or you can come pick it up on the east coast in perfect riding condition. It is currently tuned & was ridden every day up until Oct 2023. Because that’s what BMXers do, they ride these bikes. Unlike the angry, overweight Reddit trolls who collect shiny 90's 4130 chromoly bikes with white tires and blank number plates and pester me incessantly for this listing for the audacity to sell a used bike. If you’re looking for a 90’s bike that rides great, you found it. Looking for a dust collector you'll never ride and show off on FB group forums to strangers, well then I feel sorry for you and you should build a time machine so you can finally do what you never had the balls to do and race, which is apparently eating you up inside enough to send me hate mail over a stupid bicycle. For the other rational buyers out there looking for a cool 90's ABA raced time capsule bike, there is none cooler than this one. Thanks for looking. Get out there and RIDE your bikes.
