Description: Found in the attic of a retired school teacher in Hellerstown, PA. This is one of fifteen drawings completed using colorful pastels on hand-cut butchers paper up for auction of AMERICAN OUTSIDER FOLK ART 50/60s TEACHERS COLORFUL TEACHING AIDS. Drawings appear to have been completed in the late 50’s to the mid 60’s. One drawing (HOG) lists School Friends, Chart 7 and Sunday, April 4, 1965. The closest Friends school to the Hellerstown location is in Quakertown, PA, established in 1775. Each drawing has multiple pin holes to the four corners of the fragile butchers paper indicating multiple hangings throughout the years and only on Holidays judging by the subject matter.
