Description: A charming biedermeier period tabletop sewing box 19th centurySouth German. Circa 1830.A rectangular box veneered with thick (2-3 mm) figured walnut veneer on hardwood carcass with walnut beading on edges. Inside veneered and solid maple. A gilded metal shield escutcheon. Original working lock and key. Inside under a lift -up solid maple compartmented tray are more dividers for sewing accessories. The bottom of the box lined with purple velvet.Condition report: In excellent antique original condition. Revived french polish finish. Original lock and hinges.Small cracks,scratches and scuffmarks are commensurate with age and usage.
