Agave margaritae, Isla Magdalena

Description: You are viewing a seed grown Agave margaritae in a 3.5" pot. Provenance is Isla Magdalena on the southwest coast of the Baja peninsula. Both green and blue forms of this handsome compact species exist on Isla Magdalena and Isla Margarita, with more green on the former as one moves north. This particular seed collection is trending more towards the blue side. Provide part shade in hot inland climates or for young recruits such as this. The species is better suited as a potted subject compared to most other agaves, but can perform well in a rock garden outdoors in mild climates. Plant will ship bareroot. This comprehensive upgrade covers the cost of the heat pack, as well as other shipping and handling costs. Shipping plants with a heat pack requires a slightly larger box, more insulation and more handling time than would otherwise be necessary. Their usage can add upwards of 7oz to the box. There are often extra logistics involved in monitoring regional weather and timing of shipments. One pack is typically adequate for a box less than 1 cu ft. but they are no guarantee far below freezing. They are inadequate for shipments of tender plants below 20 degrees outside. Supplies of these are limited so I'm reserving them only for customers expecting subfreezing conditions at the destination or enroute. Most west coast shipments, for instance, need not apply.
