I bought it with big plans from a friend whom lost his medical, I have several other flying jet warbirds, this project started strong, but my energy level to move forward at the cost of the fuel it burns ran out.I AM NOT INTERESTED IN OFFERS. My price is my price. I’m happy to keep her in my hanger and be buried in her! This is a certified , N numbered, registered mig15uti. I got too excited, immediately started stripping and getting ready for paint, and well…. Life happened. I’m still very involved with jet warbirds, I fly and maintain several different makes and models currently and own a small warbird restoration business in upstate NY. THIS PART IS VERY IMPORTANT…, The mig15 in general is not a forgiving aircraft, I do not need to sell it to someone that I will have to attend their funeral in 12 months. I’m sorry to sound like a jerk, it’s your money , bla, bla, bla…. I get it, but I’m not interested. If I was a very wealthy individual looking for a great way to go out in a blaze of glory, flying this MiG around is a pretty great idea. I don’t know why anyone would want to own one of these, fly it in airshows around the country and deal with constantly having flight suit pockets full of woman’s Walmart Hanes her way panties, how will I ever find my glasses that way…. To me that all sounds like it could get exhausting, but I digress. What’s great, ITS A MIG15uti that will actually fly again. It has an airworthiness certificate, is complete, and these 2 things alone saves you years of work and money. It is disassembled, but completely there. Like most old warbirds, the logs suck. The original polish logs were stolen by a very unsavory person, but not relevant for this ad. I can provide times and such, but let’s just say engine and airframe are both mid time. The bad…. It needs all new rubber lines and hoses, a lot of elbow grease, and ……etc etc etc. This particular Mig is interesting because it has an l39 brakes conversion done, approved , and flown with for many years already. It does not an anti lock brake system, and is now pneumatic over hydraulic. The spindles, disks , calipers (not 100% sure on the caliper) and wheels are from an l39. . If you know migs, this is a huge advantage, on stock brakes the jet will not even hold at full power at the end of the runway for takeoff. Stiock MIG brakes overheat and fade very quickly. I also have a brand new set of drop tanks I will include, not pictured, and the current set as well. I do also have a new set of front and rear have canopy glass as well, but that’s not included at the prices as this are very expensive now. I believe this glass could be polished out, and made and serviceable (in my opinion) not that it’s important , but it does have a full remote king radio stack that serves its purpose . I like old steam gauges so everything is still original in the cockpits with the exception of the few gauges it needed to be airworthy in the USA. While I love to talk jets, and I’m happy tto in my “free” time. I just can’t answer everyone immediately. I get it, your dad shot down 11 MiG 15’s in Vietnam and you watch top guy 3544 times, me too. To be honest , I still believe goose lived, but again, what do I know. Unfortunately during the summer flying months my life is crazy. Included will be transport stands and a half ass set of wing jigs . I do have a welder and some steel around, and my dad was a tv repair man, so we should be good for transport.
