Description: Featured here is a Tsuba sword guard made by Alva Museum as a high-quality replica of tsuba sword guards used by samurai in Japan in the 18th century. These ornate metal pieces were placed on the katana above the handle to prevent blades from sliding off the opposing blade and onto the hand of the wielder. This tsuba is of many men in a Japanese village. They were often designed in ornate or special ways to add prestige to the sword. It was placed on a chain and comes in an Alva Museum box. In good condition, a light patina. See pictures for closer detail. Measures about 2.75” wide, 3” tall, and weighs 5 oz prior to packaging. We have an additional Tsuba Alva replica of three cranes, see our store for more. Please message us with any questions!
