Amazing Find! Two C F Monroe Small Wave Crest Glass Vases, Ormolu Base, HP, 5"

Description: A gorgeous and rare pair of C. F. Monroe Wave Crest, (decorated Opal Ware) vases. The vases have a soft pale blue background with a center cartouche on both front and back, that frame the hand painted flowers. The vases have scrolling metal ormolu handles and footed bases. Charles F. Monroe opened his first shop in 1880 in Meriden, CT and he dealt primarily in imported glassware. He bought his blanks (undecorated glass) from France, Mt Washington-Pairpoint and possibly other American glass houses. He employed highly talented local artists as decorators for his blanks. The decorated Opal ware, Wave Crest was at the height of its popularity from 1890 to 1910. The vases measure 5" tall and 2-1/4" at their widest point. They are in gorgeous condition with no nicks, chips, or cracks. The metal has not lost its luster. This is a rare set of vases. A perfect addition to the Wave Crest collector. .
