We were brainstorming in our art department on ideas for a collection of American landmarks and monuments. There are obviously a lot of different landmarks to choose from, but then the question arose on what we would do with them, how will they look together and what would we stitch them on so that it would look like a cohesive collection. We had the idea of one color silhouettes and we decided to place the silhouette on a landscape quilted background. The original idea was to create all of the designs in black thread over different colored backgrounds. When we placed all of the artwork on our design table I had the idea to make them into a flag background by choosing red, white and blue fabrics for the landscape portion and metallic silver and gold applique designs for the landmarks. The end result is breathtaking. The designs pop over the flag background for a truly unique look. We will show you both layouts, the designs in a flag color combination and a more traditional quilt using sashing blocks. The designs are also included by themselves so you can embroider them on anything that you like. The best part about this collection is that you can combine it with other Anita Goodesign collections! This collection is part of the “Mix and Match” quilt line. All of the design collections that are in the “Mix and Match” line come with 5”, 6”, 7” and 8” blocks and are fully interchangeable. There are redwork collections, folded fabric collections, special editions, jelly roll collections plus many others.
