Description: Ancient Post 17th Century (1600's or later) Post-Medieval Blackware Red Terracotta pottery shard Approximately 4" on longest sides. Features: inclusions of chalky white substance and quartz. Featured a heavy black glaze on the inside (you can still make out some spots where it's shiny) and scored lines in a metallic/grey glazed outside surface. This is why I believe it to be Post-Medieval Blackware (PMB). I'm not a pottery expert and I could be misinformed. Photos depict each of these aspects so you can see for yourself. These pottery shards were discovered by me on Native (private) property in Killingworth, CT with a long history. Pottery shards were found along with stone tools, weapons and other artifacts.
