Description: Charming antique BROKEN DISHES handmade quilt. Dates from the 1870-1880s. Filled with wonderufl old prints, calicos, shirtings and ditsy florals. All cottons. Found at a very rural farmstead outside of Appleton Wisconsin. Measures 78 x 72 Very nicely and neatly made. Hand pieced and hand quilted. 7spi. VERY thin batting. This one displays beautifully! Perfect for folding on a shelf.I hate to call it a cutter but it is worn. Border fabric edge is very worn and faded on some spots. Some block fabrics are beginning to wear. Some from age and use and others because of the dyes. No holes or fraying thru all the layers. It's not so bad that it is ragged and unsightly. I have not cleaned or treated this quilt. Yellowed/dingy from age and storage~more so on the edges and corners. I do so see a few minor age or use spots. Nothing major. No odors. Non smoking environment.
