Glass is very thick and heavy bottomed Please view all photos provided and ask all questions prior to purchase.. Both parts of the box (preferred name in this period when manufactured) even though shape seems otherwise. Box is decorated with bronze ormolu finishing details. Front center of the cover lid features a beautiful bronze intricate scrolled lace design surrounding domed handmade lid which was a popular decorative element in 19th century. This color of Jade opaline glass was in production between 1840 and 1880s. Although Item was authenticated and appraised in early 1980's when purchased from Estate Collection in Palm Beach, Florida, it has not been recently updated, but certain it has retained or gone up in value since.
