Description: Up for auction is an antique 19th century mahogany veneer framed mirror with gilt decorated phoenix bird on crest. This was recently found at auction in the Philadelphia PA area. It is offered AS FOUND FOR REPAIR RESTORATION with condition issues including losses, breaks, mahogany veneer cracking and losses. Scroll sides. Lemon gold liner. Spotting on. mirror showing age but might not be original to the piece. Retains what appears to be original shingle backing. Lots of staining to back. Nails holding it all in newer, not original. Mirror has copper backing, unusual. Odd way of putting in picture wire. Mirror itself a little over 12x20". Minor gesso losses around bird but great overall look, worthy of cleaning up, quite dirty, dusty now. Best of luck in bidding.
