Description: This is an interesting Antique 19th Century Reproduction Portrait Oil Painting by S. Kundel of The Listening Girl by Jean-Baptiste Greuze in the 1780s. It is strikingly similar to Greuze's original painting. This painting is oil on canvas and measures 20" x 24". It is signed bottom right, Kundel. Partial tag on back says portrait of young woman S. Kundel. Now, obviously, Kundel knew about Jean-Baptiste Greuze and The Listening Girl Painting. But how many others were familiar with it in America at that time? Still, it is a well executed reproduction. It is dirty from age and display. There is a dent in the canvas left side of the face about 1-1/2" diameter. There is crazing, and there are a couple of damaged spots around the edges (see pictures). The wood frame has some old nail holes. It would look amazing if it were framed as it once was. If you love Jean-Baptiste Greuze, you may love this painting!! Thank you for looking
