Description: This antique painted pot metal inkwell features a bulldog sailor smoking his pipe while adrift in a wooden barrel or washtub. Includes porcelain insert. Measurements: approx 3-7/8” high when closed x 3” deep from the front paws to the back of the barrel x 2-3/8” wide. The porcelain ink bowl is 1-1/8” high x 1-1/4” at the widest x 1” deep. Markings: the inkwell appears to be unmarked. The porcelain inset has the number 246 inscribed on the underside. Condition: all parts present and undamaged, there is minor typical rubbing and chipping to the paint that is consistent with age, the inkwell has a bit of ink staining, a bit of dust. V369
