Description: Antique ca. 1891-1902 Royal Doulton "Peony" Flow Blue Pitcher and Wash Basin. This is a beautiful antique chamber pitcher and wash basin made by Royal Doulton, Burslem, England. The "Doulton Burslem" mark was used from 1886 to 1902 and the Coronet was added to mark the appointment of Henry Doulton as Potter to HRH The Prince of Wales, beginning in 1886. "ENGLAND" was added to this mark after 1891. Thus, the stamped blue Royal Doulton Mark on the pitcher and basin dates these from 1891 until 1902. This "Peony" pattern is on Semi-Porcelain English ironstone and features cobalt blue peonies and foliage on a white background, and is in the Beverly design. The maker's mark is on the bottom of both items. The pitcher stands 12-1/4" High and is 8-1/2" Wide from spout to handle. The bowl is 16" Wide and stands 5-1/4 " Tall. CONDITION: The pitcher is in superb condition with only light shelf wear to the sole. The bowl has a 7" expertly repaired crack and a few tiny chips around the rim. There is also moderate crazing throughout the top and bottom of the bowl, but none on the pitcher. Similar listings are priced up to $1,000.00.
