Seldom if ever found, a doll over 100 years old with her ORIGINAL TRUNK FULL OF CLOTHES, including her ORIGINAL STORE DRESS. A wonderful array of garments, beautifully sewn, carefully preserved by the family for decades. First, the doll. She stands 22" tall, has an auburn mohair wig with her original hair bow. Brown eyes, open mouth with teeth, fully ball jointed composition body with original finish and red finger and toe lines. Her lovely bisque head is in nice condition, with no chips or cracks. Pretty coloring and an appealing expression. The composition body is also nice for the age. One finger is missing, and one upper arm has been taped (stringing pulled an area about an inch long down into the upper arm). Her feet are cracked at the soles. See pictures for detail. Marked Made in Germany C M Bergmann A 6 1/2 M. Then, the wardrobe. So many pieces, all well made. There must have been a dressmaker in the family at that time - we have rarely seen so much with one doll. Some of the pieces have hand sewn blanket stitching as adornment. Many have tiny tucks and pleating. Most close with buttons and buttonholes, and some have hooks and eyes also, perfect little copies of the full size girl's garments in fashion then. All buttons are antique originals, most intact. Included are: ~Three Half Slips, all with differend lace trims, all with button waist bands ~Two full slips ~Pantaloons ~Nine Dresses and gowns, and one skirt. Includes suit worn by doll ~Wool Hat with Silk Ribbon, frayed with age ~Yarn Stole and Muff ~Striped silk Headband with Puffy Ribbon Rosettes on each side ~Black hosiery stockings, with assorted single shoes, one leather shoe marked France ~Jewelry, brush, glove, purse ~Original Store Dress, which came on doll when purchased. Clothing is clean and pressed (expect some wrinkles when shipped). Some are age toned to off white. Some of the little dresses have age spots, some have been mended by hand (the navy blue wool suit worn by the doll in our pictures has small holes and hand mending). Use the picture magnifier for detail. The pictures cannot do justice to the little dresses and the work put into making them. The trunk measures 16 1/4 x 9 1/2 x 9 1/2. Wooden, Hump back, with all original paper covering and lining (much of the exterior paper is missing from age, and some is water stained). Hat / accessory storage with flip lid inside. Some of the metal hardware is loose. The doll and her trunk full of clothing were taken to an Antiques Roadshow event by the family and was appraised as having an auction value of 1200.
