Description: Antique Executioner's beheading axe. Consensus of expert opinions date this axe from mid 1500's to late 1600's. Western European origin, most likely French. This axe is maker marked, please see closeup of stamping. I was unable to identify similar markings in available reference materials. Axe head is 100% guaranteed an authentic European renaissance period executioners axe. Wooden haft appears to be more recent manufacture than axe head. Weight is approximately 9 lbs. Blade edge is approximately 7 1/2" wide and axe head measures approximately 10 1/2" across. Haft length is 4 1/2 feet.
