Antique German Bisque Two-Faced Doll 12"

Description: Antique German Bisque Two-Faced Doll 12" 12" Bisque socket head doll with 2 alternate faces, one smiling with row of painted teeth and brown glass inset eyes, and the other wailing with brown glass inset eyes, open mouth with modeled tongue. The head is enclosed in a plaster hood (I believe) that attaches to a plaster shoulder plate (I believe) - hood & shoulder plate are 1 piece, has muslin covered carton or cardboard torso, muslin upper arms and legs, (I believe) , & composition lower arms and legs. Doll has a mechanism on her left side which allows you to turn the heads with strings, see pics #12 & 13, which still works. (Heads can also be turned manually with your hand). Dress, slip & pantaloons look handmade but not sure if original but fit the doll perfectly, also has socks and shoes that also might be original. I added her small purse. Dress closure is small round faux pearls. Unfortunately, she's missing her bonnet. All clothing is in good condition. Condition: generally excellent. Shoulder plate has a crack on each side close to where hood meets the shoulder but the dress does hide them, see pics #20 & 21. There's a hole on back of doll for access to the mechanism but left side not covered by the muslin material but is there, see pic #18. A unique & rare variation of the two-faced doll. Doll possibly from late 1800's I didn't remove the cloths to take pictures because of the cracks in the shoulder plate. Measurements are approximate.
