ANTIQUE REGENCY ROSEWOOD BRASS INLAID WRITING SLOPE LOVELY CONDITION c1835 All in very good condition. In rosewood veneers, and of the early type that has lovely variegation to the grain ranging from black to blonde colour hues. And it has this intricate pretty brass inlay to top and front surfaces which is in excellent original condition , ... lovely to find it as such, as quite often there's damage to that brass inlay. It has two brass side folding out carrying handles. It has a fancy scroll inlaid brass lid cartouche with the inscription " D Carmichael Glasgow ". It has a similar fancy lock escutcheon with which it also has its early key, locking and opening again the box as originally intended. Internally, again a little brass inlay to the pen tray lid, little compartments ( no secret drawers ) and two glass inkwells in good order without lids, although cork stoppers were used latterly. It has a deep green & gold tooled leather writing surface, under which, when folding out the flaps, there are again storage areas for letters paperwork mail etc. It measures approx 14 inches wide x 9 1/4 deep x 5 inches high. The box has been serviced & cleaned, a nourishing coat of wax polish applied, it looks stunning & as such is very presentable. ........all as per the images. ........all as per the images.
