Description: 19th Century ANTIQUE RARE STONEWARE JUG w/ Cobalt Blue Incised Lettering CHARLES & COVANDERBILT AVE & 43RD STNEW YORK CHARLES & CO. (a high end Grocerer & Fruiterer) was founded in 1948 on the corner of Vanderbilt Ave and 43rd St which was directly opposite from Grand Central Terminal. The company catered to the wealthy and included a full catalog of gourmet food baskets available for Ocean Liner passage. The company was in business at the same location till about 1988. This antique stoneware jug features a blob type top, a strap handle and ais approximately 11" tall. For the age it is in good condition.
