Description: Hi Up for auction is a nicely restored club by Maker Alex Patrick Leven of Scotland. A 41" club That had a crack in the shaft down near the hosel but I was able to repair it and the club feels very sound now. New Whipping was added. Please see all of the pictures as I have included some of the shaft near the hosel after restoration. I found no other issues with the club. Arrow straight shaft with what I believe is the original grip in good condition with new whipping. I believe this could be a player but I sell it as a collectible as there can always be hidden cracks in these old clubs and cannot guarantee the club wouldn't break under play. The Club is marked Alex Patrick Est. 1847 Leven. Under Leven is another mark that looks like GJS?. A pretty rare club in great condition. A bit of history of Alex Patrick Thanks to the " Antique Golf Clubs of Scotland Website"............Alex served his apprenticeship in Leven with his father, John, a cabinetmaker who turned to making clubs, and he inherited the business in 1866 when his father succumbed in the cholera epidemic of that year. A good amateur with the Leven club, he left for Royal Wimbledon in 1886 to become professional there (pipping Willie Park to the job). He left James Kinnell to look after the Leven operation. In 1891 he returned to Leven and recommended his brother, David, take charge at Wimbledon which the committee accepted. Alex’s association with the club seems to have been a happy one as he called his house in Leven Wimbledon Villa. Shipping $12.99 I will combine shipping on multiple orders. Thanks for looking and good luck!
